The Caribbean beauty edit

The Caribbean beauty edit

I’m off to St Lucia in a couple of days on an assignment for a glossy magazine, so thought you might like to see what I’m taking in my beauty bag.

It’s going to be scorching hot and humid, although it is the rainy season so I’ll probably have to deal with a shower or two aswell.

Luckily my straight hair doesn’t really go frizzy in humidity, but my colourist Craig at HOB in Camden has stressed the importance of a good UV protector spray to keep my freshly tinted hair in good condition and prevent the colour from fading.

And thankfully I only need to pack a waterproof mascara for my bottom lashes as I have lash extensions on the top ones.

So here’s what I’m packing:

carib 1

Top row (left-right)

Carven Le Parfum (I love this new floral scent)
Dior Bronze Poudre de Soleil in Healthy Look (for a sunkissed glow)
Sol Janeiro Coconut Water Cooling Mist (from conranshop.co.uk)
Weleda Wild Rose Deodorant
Avene Eau Thermale spray (for in-flight skin hydration)
Collin Resultime Micellar Radiance Cleansing Water
Chantecaille Le Stylo Ultra Slim Eyeliner (available from September)

Middle row (left-right)

DHC Oil Blotting Papers (great for when you need to blot away shine)
LP Skin Therapy Overnight Replenish Cream
Nivea Sun Protect & Refresh Invisible Cooling Mist SPF 30 (fast and fuss free – no rubbing in required)
Palmolive Ayurituel Peaceful Shower Gel (new and inspired by ancient Ayurvedic traditions)
Clarins After Sun Moisturiser Self Tanning (for a subtle tan boost)
Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil (containing UV filters and heat protection)
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick SPF 15

Bottom row (left-right)

Apivita Light Texture Tinted Face Cream SPF 30 (great coverage and protection)
Color Wow Color Security Conditioner (available from July from Space NK)
Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Holidays Mascara (this stays put and doesn’t give you panda eyes)
SkinCeuticals Mineral Radiance UV Defense SPF 50 (contains a 100% mineral filter which is ideal for sensitive skins)
Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick in Peach on the Beach
Color Wow Color Security Shampoo (available from July from Space NK)
Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream
Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm (an antioxidant-rich cleanser)

And not forgetting my flight/health essentials:

carib 2

Top row (left-right)

Heath & Heather Night Time Infusion Tea Bags (I’m one of those people who finds it hard to sleep on the plane so am hoping these will help)
Boots Repel Once Insect Repellent Lotion (I’m allergic to mosquito bites so need all the protection I can get!)
Superdrug Insect Repellent Aerosol Spray

Middle row (left-right)

Laser Lite Foam Earplugs (for the plane)
Aroma Therapeutics Sleep Enhancer Spray Concentrate
Tesco 1% Hydrocortisone Cream (just in case I get bitten)

Bottom row

NHP Advanced Probiotic Support and Unbeelivable Bee Prepared Max Strength Immune Support (for a healthy digestive system and stopping plane germs in their tracks)

So I don’t give in to the temptation to eat lots of rubbish on the plane I will also be taking one of the bottles from the Bach Original Flower Essences Emotional Eating Kit – Cherry Plum (available from Boots and Holland & Barrett). It’s designed for when you fear you might lose control of your diet, helping you to think rationally.

So there you have it! Have I forgotten anything? What are your holiday essentials?
