Treatment review: Nanokeratin System Re-Juvenate Refining Mask

Treatment review: Nanokeratin System Re-Juvenate Refining Mask

Prepare to resurrect those straightening irons, as smooth and sleek hair is a hot trend for spring/summer 2014.

But as with any heated appliances, overuse can only spell trouble for your hair’s health.

The answer? An in-salon smoothing treatment that lasts a couple of months and is also great for the condition of your locks, such as the one offered by Nanokeratin; the Re-Charge treatment, mimics and replaces lost keratin to leave hair strong, smooth and incredibly shiny.

This treatment is ideal for most hair types, but it’s obviously going to be extra beneficial for hair that’s very dry, damaged, chemically processed or uncontrollable.

If, like me, your hair isn’t at crisis point but could still benefit from some TLC, the Nanokeratin System Re-Juvenate Refining Mask could be your best friend. You can either have it done in the salon or buy the product to use at home, and just half an hour later your hair will be super-smooth and controlled.

I popped along to the wonderful Michael Van Clarke salon in London last week to experience the Refining Mask treatment, as my long, coloured blonde hair was in need of something to calm flyaways and cut through the tangles I’ve been experiencing lately.

Following an uber-healthy spirulina smoothie, a scan through the latest mags and a good old chat with stylists Russell and Tasilia, I emerged with ‘dream hair’ – smooth, sooo controlled, weighty (a sign of health in my mind), tangle free and ridiculously shiny – no mean feat for blonde hair. According to Russell, the effects should last for a couple of weeks, and my hair should dry quicker too.

I would’ve tried the longer-lasting Re-Charge treatment, but with Christmas and a few parties coming up, I wanted the flexibility to be able to style and give my hair some texture. But come January, you may well spy me back in the chair at Michael Van Clarke!

Nanokeratin System treatments are available at many good hairdressing salons, including Daniel Galvin, Errol Douglas, Karine Jackson and groups including TONI&GUY, Rush and Headmasters.

Nanokeratin System homecare products start at £20; the in-salon Refining Mask treatment costs from £20 (varies by salon; excluding blow-dry) and the in-salon Re-Charge treatment costs from £150 (results last up to 3 months).
