Bourjois summer preview

Bourjois summer preview

One makeup brand that never takes itself too seriously is Bourjois, and I defy anyone not to be cheered up by their new summer shades which are enough to brighten up anyone’s day.

Not only are the colours gorgeous and perfect for sun-drenched holidays, there are some really nifty accessories, too.

First up is the Nail Art Dotting Tool (£3.99, available from mid-June) which is quite frankly ingenious.

It’s sooo easy to use; simply splodge (that’s not a technical term by the way) a bit of polish onto a surface that you don’t mind using as a palette, dip either the small or bigger end into the polish and dot onto your nails. I’m wearing a mash-up of three shades, So Laque Glossy in Adora-Bleu (the light blue), new 1 Seconde Nail Enamel in Turquoise Block (£5.99) and a darker green to create the dots.

Next up are the Volume Glamour Max mini mascaras (£5.99, out now).

As you can see, these little cuties have a beefy brush for building volume and are ideal for your holiday makeup bag. They’re available in three electric shades – Electric Blue, Green Lagoon and Purple Mania – and an intense black.

Intensify a dramatic eye look with the new false eyelashes, which join the existing ones in the range; go for Extreme Volume (£6.49), Flared Volume (£6.99), Smoky Blue Liner Effect (£6.99) or my favourites, Natural Corner Lash (£5.99).

In my opinion, I’ve saved the best till last – I’m in love with each one of the Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipsticks (£7.99, available from 10th July), which are actually chunky crayons.

The colour intensity is surprising – Red Sunrise in particular really packs a punch, and they feel nice and hydrating on the lips. Plus they have an SPF15 so you can quite happily slick them on when in the sun. I’ve swatched the shades on my hand and will be taking them all away with me – they are (from top to bottom) Peach on the Beach, Fuchsia Libre, Orange Punch, Red Sunrise.

The products you can see behind the lipsticks in the group shot are the new waterproof Record Liners (£7.99, available from 10th July), which come in three shades – Noir Boyish (black), Violet Preppy  (violet) and Kaki Boheme (khaki). Clever packaging here enables you to attach the brush to the top of the liner for easier, precise application. Bravo Bourjois!
