What's new at The Body Shop

I remember my very first beauty crush – Orchid Oil Cleansing Milk from The Body Shop. It was perfect for my young, temperamental skin, and I even used to take the bottle back to be refilled when I’d finished it. Eco-aware even as a teenager!

Then there was the fabulous Camomile Eye Make-up Remover which I used (and refilled) for a good few years. And if you’re over 30, you’ll probably have also worn or at least been given one of their classic scents; best-selling 80’s favourite White Musk is the one that sticks in my mind, but I also remember the lilac perfume oil – mainly because I couldn’t stand the stuff!

The brand has stuck to its values and continues to be a strong presence on the high street. Their R&D has come on in leaps and bounds (undoubtedly thanks to now being owned by L’Oreal), and some of the skincare products use pretty advanced ingredients and formulations.

So what’s new?

First off, there’s the Camomile Make-Up Removal Collection, featuring 5 products starting at £2.50.

I love the Camomile Sumptous Cleansing Butter which is also the hero in the range – It applies like a dream and leaves skin feeling really hydrated. Out now.

The Honeymania bath and body range which consists of 7 products starting at £2, launched last week and has been covered fairly extensively in the blogosphere, but what the hell!

I love this range as not only does it smell good enough to eat, but it contains community fair trade honey from a remote rainforest in the Ethiopian highlands; the bees that produce this honey are free to roam the rainforest.

Also out last week was the new 50ml size of Nutriganics Drops of Youth. This anti-ageing concentrate contains plant stem cells and a minimum of 98% ingredients of natural origins (certified by ECOCERT).

Finally, out on October 6th and with a price point starting at £6.50, is the White Musk Smoky Rose fragrance collection, which features 5 products including White Musk Smoky Rose perfume (EdT and EdP) which I have to say I really like.

This floriental (floral-oriental) fragrance is a grown-up version of the classic White Musk perfume which I name-checked earlier, and has a warm, sophisticated vibe which is very feminine and wearable.

For the scent boffins amongst you, it opens fruitily with bergamot, pink pepper and blackcurrant and softens to a floral-musky heart of tobacco flower, smoky rose accord and orange flower. Base notes include cruelty-free sensual musks and immortelle flower. Smells pricier than it actually is (£11 for the eau de toilette).

I always had white musk and dewberry for Xmas. My first crush from body shop was the face wash for problem skin.It was purple, that’s all I remember. It worked.I hated having oily skin then but now it’s a blessing, less wrinkles.

Hi Michelle, I’ve always had a tendency towards combination skin so definitely agree with you on the less wrinkles front! Ah yes, Dewberry – it was quite distinctive I seem to remember.

I loved the orchid oil cleanser. Is there anything like it today? It left your skin feeling so fresh and the smell was gorgeous
