17 Apr Eau De Lacoste Sensuelle
Lacoste’s new fragrance, Eau De Lacoste Sensuelle, is a bit of a departure for the brand, whose women’s scents normally tend to veer towards the fruity and sporty end of the spectrum.
With more than a passing resemblance to Calvin Klein’s 80’s fave, Obsession (sorry Lacoste but it’s true!), also one of my top 10 all-time favourites, I’m quite taken by it, and you will be too if you like your perfumes sexy and sultry. It’s also slightly reminiscent of Armani Code and YSL Manifesto.
Sensuelle is meant to evoke the transition from a sunny day into a cool, refreshing evening, and in my opinion it’s certainly one to save for after dark.
This warm, lightly spicy floral – and it’s definitely warm – opens with sparkling pink pepper and tart blackcurrant. In my opinion, the mood changes quite quickly as elegant Turkish rose, sweet pea and gladioli come to the fore, giving a hit of sweetness.
This sweetness gathers intensity as nougatine (very vanilla-esque) and amber kick in – and I guess it’s the amber note which reminds me so much of Obsession – resulting in a rich, almost edible finale.
Lush, and an almost guaranteed crowd-pleaser.
Eau De Lacoste Sensuelle is out now and available in 30ml (£33), 50ml (£45) and 90ml (£61) sizes.
